A Lego replica of the Laval University Robotics Laboratory Motor-Driven Highly Underactuated 10-DOF Robotic Hand. The original is a multi-functional self-adaptive robotic hand that fits directly onto any electronic industrial robot. The Lego version has similar sophisticated under actuated fingers to allow adaptive gripping. Each finger is opened and closed via a Lego electric motor connected to a proximity and rotation sensor inside the hand and controlled via the programmable brick (RCX 2.0). A secondary motor controls the orientation of the fingers allowing two distinct grasp modes.
This configuration packs 2 motors, and 2 sensors into the base of the hand. One motor for opening and closing the hand, one motor for finger orientation, a rotation sensor and a proximity sensor for automated motor control.
